World of Warcraft Forever: Everything You Need to Know

Blizzard is finally giving players the Classic+ experience they’ve been asking for. World of Warcraft Forever breathes new life into vanilla Azeroth and sets it on an entirely new path for fans to explore this November.

From structural changes to new activities and zones, here are the key features of the latest addition to the Warcraft universe.

What Is WoW Forever?

WoW Forever is a permanent version of Classic WoW built around an expanded original Vanilla that branches off into its own timeline. New stories and content are built on Classic’s historical setting, following a horizontal progression path with a permanent level 60 cap. So once you’ve reached max level yourself or with the help of a WoW Forever boosting service, you can leave the leveling grind behind and focus on the endgame for good.

No More Realms: Choose Your Ruleset

Forever is getting rid of the realms as we know them. Instead, you need to choose between four rulesets that shape your core playstyle and experience in Azeroth:

  • Normal — PvE-focused experience with optional PvP.
  • PvP — world PvP is always on in contested territory.
  • Roleplaying — designed for players who want to lean into the world and its roleplaying community.
  • Hardcore — coming after launch, with permanent consequences for death.

Skyborne & New Race and Class Combos

Skyborne enters the roster as a new playable race. Players get to experience their story firsthand in Zephras Isle, which blends Classic-style Azeroth with Skywall-inspired architecture.

The game also receives new race-and-class combos, including Gnome Priest, Dwarf Shaman, Undead Paladin, and others.

Classes themselves are getting attention too. Talent trees and abilities have been adjusted to bring weaker specs closer to the rest of the pack while keeping class identity intact. Some talents remain familiar, while others are being improved or replaced, and several important class buffs are now baseline abilities rather than talents.

A Bigger Leveling Journey

1,000+ new quests are woven into the game, filling in forgotten corners of Azeroth and expanding existing zones with new stories. Four major new areas are part of the launch experience: Zephras Isle, Riverglades, Shen’dralas, and Mount Hyjal.

The Classic rules remain firmly in place: no level scaling and no flying mounts. Getting around Azeroth is still supposed to be part of the adventure rather than something to breeze through.

Dungeons and Raids

The dungeon collection is expanded with nine new instances, including the Ruins of Lordaeron, Alcaz Prison, and several other dungeons located in previously unexplored corners of Azeroth. The original Classic dungeons are still there, too, featuring reworked loot with new items added to the drop pools.

The first new raids, Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit, open their doors on December 9, 2026, along with the iconic Onyxia’s Lair.

PvP Gets a New Battleground

Forever adds Darkspear Islands, a new 15v15 Battleground that mixes control-point gameplay with defence mechanics.

The original Honor system also returns with its familiar ranking structure and a slew of new PvP rewards.

Professions

Professions are getting a sizable overhaul with various changes and additions, including 600+ new recipes.

Crafting is also tied more closely to the world through a new system called Camping. You can place a campfire in the open world and turn it into a campsite where other players can contribute crafted goods using their tradeskills to provide useful buffs to everyone at the campsite.

New Reputations

Alongside the new zones and content come new factions and reputation tracks, each with their own vendors and rewards. These include the Theramore Expeditionary Force, Darkspear Raiders, Nightclaw Druids, Cenarion Scouts, Windshapers, High Order, and more.

The Legacy System

The achievement-focused Legacy system allows you to earn points by completing different challenges through leveling classes, ranking up in PvP, completing group activities, and doing other content. You can use those points in special talent trees to unlock perks and buffs for your characters.

There is also a separate reward track for accumulating Legacy Points, with cosmetic and prestige rewards such as pets, tabards, and mounts.

Transmog Is Optional

Yes, Transmog is coming to Classic-style Azeroth, but Forever gives you a choice in how you see it. The feature is opt-in, meaning you can turn Transmog visuals on if you want to see players showing off their custom appearances, or leave it off and stick to the basic look of everyone’s gear.

The way appearances are collected is also being streamlined. When an eligible transmog drops in group content, all players automatically earn it rather than rolling and fighting over the item.

When Can You Play WoW Forever?

The WoW Forever beta has already gone live and will be available until October 21, giving you a chance to try out the content up to level 30. Beta characters are for testing only and will not carry over to launch.

The full game is set for its worldwide debut on November 4, 2026. Blizzard’s roadmap already includes new raids, PvP seasons, and more quests as part of major content updates that are slated for spring and summer 2027.
