Combat Mission Shock Force 2 — is the epitome of the We-Go strategy subgenre, which is a combination of real-time strategy and turn-based games. Shock Force 2 allows us to play both classic real-time strategy games and a hybrid system in which we plan our actions for the next minute. In the latter case, after giving orders, the action takes place by itself, and we can only observe the actions of our and enemy units. Following the tradition of the series, Shock Force 2 emphasizes the utmost realism, which is reflected, for example, in the accurate recreation of the equipment of individual units. Individual soldiers differ not only in appearance.
Artificial intelligence simulates the behavior, combat potential and psychological state of each of them, which affects the effectiveness of the entire squad. Moreover, the creators abandoned a single perspective for the entire army the perception of the enemy by one soldier does not mean that he is visible to all allies. Thus, Shock Force 2 simulates the flow of information on a real battlefield. These innovations include realistic, scientifically modeled vehicle damage systems, projectile penetration and armor resistance.
