CS:GO Skins in CS2: All You Need to Know

Historical-CSGO-Weapon

The release of CS:GO 2 is already rapidly approaching its finale. As Valv stated, you can expect a completely new and redesigned game at the end of September-October 2023. And every day, more details about gameplay, e-sports, graphics, and skins appear. Gamers are waiting for the most information about the latter since it will greatly affect them. Today, we will discuss what awaits gamers and their skins in CS2.

Price Increases and Decreases

Skins are a beautiful redesign of weapons and a pretty good way to trade and make money. All existing skins will be transferred to Counter-Strike 2, so players don’t have to worry about their collection. The developers noted that items from CS:GO would not be lost even during the first announcement, which reassured those who value their inventory and have rare, expensive skins that can be used for a bet on CS2. Old skins will receive updated textures, but their appearance remains unchanged. What does it mean?

Already, the market and prices are experiencing unprecedented changes: many skins have increased in price by 10-13%, and some, on the contrary, have fallen in price. This is because they will simply become much better (or vice versa) in the new version of the game. Thanks to the Source 2 engine, they will receive minor visual upgrades, and for some skins, they will add new models of higher quality. The same applies to stickers.

Can I see what my Skins will look like in the New Game?

In general, yes. There are two ways: Valve’s official blog, which released screenshots of weapons, and direct participation in the beta test. In the first case, there is a chance that the skin you need will not be shown. The second path is more difficult because not everyone can access the beta version and test unless you are a media titan like Shroud or a pro player. But even in this case, Valve openly stated that when viewing some skins, textures may be lost, the game will crash, or errors will occur, but all such errors will be promptly eliminated. We hope there will be no errors in the current version.

Cases and Drop Chances

One of the most accessible ways to receive it is through cases. Of course, there is still a chance of skins dropping after the game, but this is a fairly rare occurrence, and it is challenging to get a cool skin for more than $1. So, the chests remain and will be updated periodically. Moreover, despite the randomness, cases are one of the most effective ways to earn money for Valve and its players. And many are confident that this feature will never be removed from the game, which is generally logical and understandable.

Also, open data shows the chance of receiving an expensive item, although extremely small, exists. These indicators of the current version will be transferred to CS2, which, despite price fluctuations now, will allow the market to stabilize during the first weeks of the update.

New Skins: Knives, Operatives, Graffiti and More

The important point is that Valve will add new items with the release of the new version of the game. This is a logical move from a marketing point of view: few people can resist buying a new case with unique and the latest skins. It’s no secret that, unlike other shooters like Quake II, in CS: GO, not only the ability to play the game is highly valued, but also the quality of the skins. Most of the community wants to play with the new AWP or Desert Eagle in the new matchmaking.

In the game files, data miners have already discovered two new types of knives, including new models of operatives, new graffiti, stickers, and animation on Zeus, which hints that this weapon will also receive skins.

Final Thoughts

Fortunately or unfortunately, the topic of skins around the release of Counter-Strike 2 is much more actively discussed than changes in graphics and gameplay. Previously, Na’ViNa’Vi team member s1mple stated that he was pleased with the new version, although there were some bugs and new unusual features.

And this is understandable because changing such a popular game is fundamentally a very bad idea. It’s a pity that the developers of Overwatch 2 weren’t told about this, but that’s not the point now. CS2 is not a new game but simply an improved old one because constant updates, limited by the engine and game resources, no longer bring fundamental changes while creating new bugs and problems for players.

But all this pales compared to the abundance of new skins and old models that will get fresh air. We look forward to CS2 and will keep you updated on all the news.
